Love this Alex. So interesting and makes me think about what I wear. I’ve moved to wearing what I really like and not caring what others think. It makes me feel good about myself. I follow fashion but just to add bits in to change it up a bit. Love your column. It makes me smile when I see it in my inbox xx
Love this article Alex! For so long I think I knew my style, but kept trying to follow others and would then purchase things that I would try to make suit me. I’ve now settled into my style, which I love and I need to try not to feel like it’s not fashionable enough because I dont always follow the latest trends. I’m much happier for this! That said, I still do like to try new things, but nice not to feel pressure to!
Im a stripey top and jeans girl with colourful shoes or bag. Used to think this was boring so added “trendy” items that inevitably I never wore or felt awkward in. Hence, money wasted. I now realise that this is my style and it’s fine to be comfortable as opposed to “trendy”. I’m 53 so it’s took a while but your column (is that the right word?) has helped enormously xxx
Yes I totally agree, and stripes never go out of style! Never, it makes a lot of sense. I think it's great to know your style as weight fluctuates etc, as then you know what you need to replace! I've wasted an awful lot of money in the past too and being comfortable is the best way xx (and I love the word column, thank you!)
New subscriber here after following you on Instagram fir ages. Really interesting article. I'm in my early 50s and finally at a point where I know what my style is. Or at least what I like and what makes me feel good. I dress for myself and don't follow fashion trends anymore. Also a major lover of a pop of red. ❤️
I love clothes and feeling ‘dressed up’ but in a casual way. I struggle with my style for work as I never feel comfortable or me. I’m approaching this season with a ‘all my clothes are my clothes’ attitude and trying not to see workwear and weekend wear as two different things. Hopefully, I’ll start to feel more myself at work as I integrate the two and adopt this new way of thinking to my wardrobe. Great newsletter ❤️
Really enjoyed reading this. I love your leopard, denim and red combo. I wore to death a pair of leopard flats from Russell and Bromley you recommended about 10 years ago and miss them!!! Timeless! x

This is lovely to read - welcome! I definitely think it is something that comes with age (or wisdom - whichever comes first!) ❤️
