Great article as ever. My three go-to’s would be m and s harper jeans, stripey tops and (this is cheating as I did say three) in winter my dr marten Chelsea boots and in summer either sandals or colourful trainers. It’s liberating to find what you love to wear, feel comfortable in and not give a toss what anyone else thinks.
I really love this. It feels like a permission slip to not jump on the trends. Sometimes I get so angry that the trends “leave me behind” - but really, I just like what I like and don’t want to feel forced into a fashion corner. Thank you, Alex!
I totally agree about wearing a 'uniform' of sorts. I also agree about tights - but, if you have to wear a pair I would suggest trying Snug tights. They make them to fit ALL shapes and sizes and they do not fall down, ride up or any of the other problems with strangulating nylon. I have an opaque pair and a wool pair. Very good if you 'have' to wear a dress in winter!
The freedom of not needing to jump onto all the 'trends' or 'this season's most wanted...' is very liberating. Also seeing something you might like the idea of or getting inspiration from the endless seasonal lists and then finding it or something similar but better and more 'me' on Vinted - or in my wardrobe - is both gratifying and satisfying. But, please, could you expand on this dyeing black jeans to keep the fresh? With what and how? or point me to a previous post on this if I have missed. Thank you :)
Sorry I miss comments sometimes:) yes I use the styling dye pods you can put in the washing machine! I’ve done it a few times (often throw kids stained tees in too!) and the washing machine doesn’t need cleaning after - I do a black wash after just in case but it has been fine. Maybe give the rubber edging a wipe - the only thing to note is that it doesn’t dye white stitching. These jeans have dark stitching but so did my son’s white stained too and the stitching remained bright white which looked kind of cool but worth considering!
There are jeans dyes you can get to refresh the color, I usually use Dylon because that’s what’s readily available here and they work well. They make your jeans look brand new. It’s brilliant as it makes you feel like your jeans are brand new again.
Sorry, forgot to write: try googling Dylon All-in-one Machine Dye pod. It’s super easy to do yourself in your washing machine. Just remember to run an empty cycle afterwards and after that don’t wash whites as the next load ;-) just to be safe.

Thank you - will seek those out.
I hate tights. But when you wear your lovely long skirts, do you wear long socks or leggings underneath?
I just wear socks, I find leggings a bit cumbersome x
