What I wore on the school run
in a busy September! Plus The Frugality Film Club fail
Hi everyone,
What a month! Both our childen are now in school full-time and as much as I want to say I cried, I enjoyed seeing them leave me confidently without looking back even more.
As an antidote to the usual Fashion Week content at this time of year, I took photos leaving the house for 7 days to give you an idea of what I wear on the school run. I am clinging onto summer clothes for as long as I can get away with (mainly because I hate wasting clothes but also because I haven’t quite located my winter wardrobe amidst the moving chaos).

As you can see, I am still very reliant on the Birkenstock ‘Boston’ clog as my door shoe, no time for pull-on shoes! Still loving the culottes as an easy trouser but the chill is starting to kick-in so denim will soon be my best friend again.
Most days are rewearing a white tee with a different cardigan/blazer and the bottoms are usually on rotation over the week.
I do sometimes go back home to get changed if I have an event to go to, but they’ve been few and far between lately.

I love to throw on Le Bon Shoppe balloon pants (above, right) - I’m not sure I look 100% good in them? But they’re comfy as hell.
Sunglasses are still essential, mainly to hide behind but also to steer away from eye contact. Parents are lovely but I am just not a morning person.

I always get so many compliments on this hot pink cardigan, it was a splurge at the time it pretty much replaces a jacket at this time of year (v cosy). I’m also a big fan of plain basics first, layer colour after. You’ll notice most of my outfit combinations are plain with colour introduced with accessories and knitwear.
Since the school term began I have truly made the most of my extra time, last week I went to Paris for one night with Sezane (one of my favourite brands to work with - they even booked in my best pal for the ride!). We stayed at Le Grand Hôtel Cayré which was gorgeous, just by Rue de Bac and near to all the fabulous Saint-Germain-des-Prés spots.

I also popped into my local Specsavers store to see the giant images of me in the windows! I will be in selected stores across the country along with frames from my Edit (in a range of pricepoints). Wave if you see me!
My daughter assumed whoever stood behind this screen, would become the image shown and alas, was very disappointed.
We also attended a film premiere this week (who do I think I am?!). My brother-in-law produced Harris Dickinson’s directorial debut ‘Urchin’ about Mike, living on the fringes of society without a permanent home, trying to hold down a job amidst addiction. It’s sensitive, empathetic with some warm moments too. Frank Dillane is sensational as the lead.
It’s out in cinemas October 3rd, I’d love to hear your thoughts! This is what I wore:

And finally, The Frugality Film Club suffered a bit of a fail in its debut month. Did anyone managed to watch ‘45 Years’? Typically, I left it to the last minute and set up to watch on Sunday night only to find it had been removed from Channel 4 streaming! Which is odd because it’s a Film 4 production but anyway….we rented it but I apologise to those who couldn’t watch it! I thoroughly enjoyed this film, the premise was so simple yet engaging (I didn’t realise it was based on a true story from David Constantine’s short story ‘In Another Country’). They felt very real as a couple - both Tom Courtenay and Charlotte Rampling were wonderful (and how rare to see a sex scene between an older couple, and it be realistically awkward!). I also liked how the friend, on looking at a younger picture of Kate, says ‘Look how beautiful you are’ (as opposed to ‘were’). I’m really glad I watched it.
Next month’s film will be ‘Broker’, a Korean film, also on Channel 4 (here’s hoping we have better luck this time).

See you every time I go past my local Specsavers! 😂
I love that you state how long you’ve had your clothing! You’re so real for doing that x
