I simply cannot discuss festive dressing anymore, it feels slightly fraudulent as I don a pair of red light-up flashing glasses and reindeer hairband to my kids’ school Christmas Fair. So I’m talking Art instead…
I adore having Art in our home: framed postcards from trips, movie posters, drawings picked up on travels, carboot finds and, of course, limited prints and originals. I am not a collector, I just like what I like and love having something on my walls that tells a story - whether it’s where I bought it, why I like it or how I came about owning it. I also love having a piece I saved up for next to a piece that cost me £2, the eclectic mix is what (I believe) brings my home to life. I have rarely regretted buying Art, clothes more so.
And I also like to support artists, in an economy that doesn’t. And I like to support women artists, too (a great Substack to follow is Katy Hessel’s ‘The Great Women Artists’). To begin with, it was a subconscious thing, I find a lot of art via social media and tend to be drawn to following women, but now it’s something I seek out and I’m quite proud of my collection (this is a labour of love over the past 15 years).
Another reason I am writing about Art is because we are in the process of taking it off the walls because we are MOVING! It has been a crazy few months and couldn’t share until it actually happened but we are packing up most evenings ready for a post-Christmas move. I will share more in the new year but for now, here is our collection:
Please excuse the lighting, I couldn’t wait around for a non dreary day so this is mainly shot with the lights on. But starting in the kitchen, these are my favourite pieces, especially together as these are the two artists I worked with on my matchboxes: Simone Brewster and Frances Costelloe.

I don’t sell product anymore but I loved this collaboration, I never like to do anything expected so this was a perfect project, and both artists were so happy to work on it with me.
