3 Things I Bought On Vinted This Month
And an affordable alternative to those red ballet flats
Hi everyone! I am on holiday this week so have slowed down on social media. And thank goodness because we had some bad luck on the way with a flight cancellation and lost luggage - I have been wearing my dad’s linen shirt for the last two days.
This newsletter will stay as it is as I already feel it is at a pace I enjoy - maybe I’ll up it one day but I really don’t want to fall out of love with writing these as this is one of my favourite things about my work!
News from me: I took part in the mum’s race at sports day! Felt quite proud of myself for competing, it’s so easy to let failure and the fear of looking like a dork stop you from doing these things but my daughter didn’t ask where I came (second, thanks for asking), she was just glad I joined in.
I finished watching ‘Dark Matter’ on Apple TV and really enjoyed it, it is nowhere near as sublime as ‘Severance’ (January 2025 cannot come quick enough for series 2!) but it is enjoyable in a kind of ‘Dark’ series 1 kind of way and something both Chris and I enjoyed watching together (lately our tastes have distanced). Jennifer Connelly is also such a babe in every universe she inhabits (although I’m not sure she can top her iconic role in ‘Labyrinth’).
I have also been nominated for a B Creators ‘Fashion Influencer of the Year’ Award, which is weird because I actually don’t like to purposefully influence (I think it gets a bad rep) and I also kind of hate these things but I’m always quick to put my own work down so instead I am embracing it! Go me and you can vote here, if you’d like.

I had a lot of comments about my red Flabelus shoes, they’re silk so quite delicate and I sized up (as it suggests on the site) because they come up small. I bought them as a special zingy shoe to pep up some plain outfits but I am not sure they’re up for hardcore everyday wear and tear. So I thought I’d look for some alternatives, which is tricky because it’s always hard to recommend ‘dupes’ if you haven’t tried and you don’t own them. But in this case, I have:

These are the same as the cream Mary-Janes I have had for a few years. They come in a delicious red! I often find the buckle details are the giveaway on a not so well-made shoe but these are gorgeous.
3 things I bought secondhand this month:
This Asos top via Vinted, I had seen it lots on TikTok and thought it’d be good for Glasto but I’m still not sure. The shoulders are very exaggerated but thought I’d give it a few more wears before deciding.
I try and buy presents for kids from charity shops or secondhand where I can, especially when it’s a big party - so.much.stuff! I often look out for Schleich toys as they scrub up well, most kids like/use them and they hold their value. Peggy loves these and is always excited when we wrap these up for friends (and roughly £2-£4 as opposed to the shop price of £10-£15). I often buy a few to save on shipping and save for stocking presents.
This Ganni dress, £30 on Vinted. It has pockets, it’s an easy flowy shape and can also work for both day and evening on vacation. And let me tell you, 3 days on holiday without my luggage and this is the only dress that made it, it is VERSATILE!
3 affordable London days out this summer:
Yayoi Kusama: Pumpkin in Kensington Gardens this summer (until 9th November) - you can visit for FREE.
Golders Hill Park Zoo - lemurs, deer and chickens - what’s not to love. And it’s FREE
Park Road Lido - can you believe we’ve never been to a lido? This is our local one but there are so many across London - my dad used to dive all year round at Tooting Bec Lido but I always think it’ll be too busy etc etc and then just never go. This summer is the one! Check before you go as some have timings for families/lane swimming. Adults £8 (prices differ across Boroughs).
3 really great leopard items:
Sandals, £45.99, Zara
Shorts, £30, Next
Quilted jacket, £60, Asos
And finally 3 outfits I enjoyed wearing in July:
Check dress: Damson Madder (in the sale)
Blazer: And Other Stories (old but this is similar)
Navy tee: Sezane (mine is from last year)
Linen trousers: Arket (mine are secondhand via Thrift + - always worth looking as it’s clearly a standard trouser shape)
Stripe trousers: Damson Madder (new in, these were gifted)
Tee: Uniqlo x Clare Waight Keller (sold out and haven’t found another version I’d recommend as yet)
Next week’s Paid subscribers newsletter is on nighties that don’t cost £195, see you there! Wish me luck with my luggage!
Voted, obvs! 🤞🏻
Please tell me you’ve been reunited with your luggage? How frustrating!
*Typing this wearing a delicately embroidered, white 100% cotton nightie that my husband says I ‘look like a Victorian ghost’ in 👻 * I found 2 just before we went to Greece & would probably wear one as outerwear, too!
