Hi everyone,
I’m an April baby so this month, along with the sunshine (which reinvigorates my personality), always brings a sense of renewal for me. I am sprinkling a few new pieces into my wardrobe but still with a careful, critical eye - they need to work for my life/existing wardrobe. Amongst the cropped tank tops there are, thankfully, lots of things out there that I believe will stand the test of time. I also have a 20% discount code for the SURI toothbrush (the chicest, eco-friendly toothbrush around).
Here are my April recs (*denotes an affiliate link):
M&S leopard shorts
M&S is really getting it right at the moment, both in terms of style, fabrics and pricepoints (the style triumvirate). I was hoping to link to a more Spring appropriate item but the cotton poplin wide leg culottes have completely sold out - will keep you posted! So I am being overoptimistic and sharing shorts. I am an on the waiting list for these brown gingham shorts but they also have a great pair of 100% cotton leopard print ones. I already have a pair which are so useful (and much easier to style than leopard jeans) - I wear with an oversized shirt or tee:

Asda garden furniture
It’s 15 degrees and I don’t currently have a garden, so of course I’m looking at garden furniture! Asda’s cult sets are back if you’ve been on the lookout for something durable, chic and affordable(ish - as far as garden furniture goes).

Le Bon Shoppe joggers
I have been caught up in Le Bon Shoppe hype. Pandora Sykes, Liv Purvis and Vicky from Mean Mail (the best cards) have all been recommending this slow style brand and heralding their comfort. The Arc pants look to be the perfect relaxed trousers (with an elasticated waist, of course) but I am enamoured these balloon joggers. So good I wear them indoors and out!
I bought colour Ocean in size L from Bristol General Store, as recommend by Liv (they have sold out of this colour but others in stock) - they were pricey but knowing I’m buying ethically from an independent store soothes the expense. I am wearing these as I type and they are ideal if, like me, you have never quite liked the tight elastic ankle of traditional joggers.
I think I’m in love with a toothbrush (and I have a 20% discount for you, too!)
{In partnership with SURI}
I first laid eyes on a SURI toothbrush in an eco pop-up in Coal Drops Yard a few years ago and I was struck with a) how attractive it was and b) its impressive eco credentials (SURI is a certified B Corp company and their sonic brushes are aluminium with plant-based, recyclable heads). The plastic waste that comes with electric toothbrushes has always bothered me but it was still a case of ‘if it ain’t broke’ (literally).

Fast forward to now, I was ready to make the eco swap and I am delighted with the new bathroom addition. It’s so attractive! It’s USB chargeable (with a 40+ day battery!). Its sonic clean feels strong yet gentle (I am still often told I brush too hard by my dentist), it’s waterproof and the plant-based toothbrush heads are recyclable for free with SURI.
It’s one of those responsible swaps that makes sense without any compromise. My code ALEXANDRA20 gives you 20% off the SURI toothbrush and expires on 23rd April 2025.
In March I’ve been….
Watching:
‘Shirley’ on Netflix. I am the last person in the world to watch ‘Adolescence’ and we will watch it, but I also try to give my attention to the backlog of older shows I often miss while we’re constantly chasing the latest watch. This biopic on politician Shirley Chisholm during the 1972 Presidential campaign (about whom I knew very little, bar ‘Mrs America’ which I watched - and loved - a few years ago) is admittedly little formulaic but Regina King is amazing as the lead and I learnt a great deal about what she stood for, her honesty and perseverance amongst her white male peers (all advising her to give up).
Visiting:
I finally got down to The Face: Culture Shift exhibition at National Portrait Gallery. It’s always a bit weird in exhibitions like this when you’ve lived through it. You had no idea at the time how iconic some of these images would be, and they often conjure up an idealistic view of the era at a time when, in reality, I was growing out overly sun-inned hair with a mouth full of fixed braces and ulcers.
I have a National Art Pass so tickets were half price (otherwise they’re £23 for an adult which feels steep yet normal these days) and I appreciated that the exhibition credited stylists, models and hair and make-up artists. Photographers rarely conceptualise these shoots themselves - it’s always a group effort so it was refreshing to see it acknowledged.
I loved the editorial concepts, the icons and lyrics that shaped my youth. I had been listening to Miss Dynamite lately on my 90s playlist and her lyrics on ‘It Takes More’ are still so relevant:
It takes more
To amuse a girl like me
So much more
To confuse a girl like me
They got you
'Cause while you're braggin' about your badness you're just
Avoidin'
Addin'
To the real shit that's happening to us
Packing
For my first all-inclusive holiday to Marrakech this Easter! I am definitely packing a book (maybe two?!), my Vinted gold Marni sandals, my new Muji hat and of course, the SURI toothbrush and travel case (code ALEXANDRA20 gives you 20% discount).
Enjoy the sunshine!

OH god don't start me on Le Bon Shoppe! Those tracksuit trousers look so great too! I'm tempted to go for my second colour in the trousers...
Little klaxon for anyone interested that I’ve just got my second pair of balloon pants (I’ve worn by 1st pair so much) in the sale from Cissy Wears 🏃🏻♀️
