As I type this, I have both the big light on and my desk lamp. My halogen lamp is on (we’ve had ours since renovations so only one twinkly warm bar remains). I am wearing knittted joggers, socks and a cardigan. The irony is not lost on me.
However, a speckle of sunlight reached the back fence panel of our north facing garden last week and our solar lights turned on at dusk for the first time in 6 months. So of course I turned into ‘spring is here’ mode and have worn (and possibly trashed) my Mary-Jane flats more times than have been deemed appropriate for this weather.
And what better time to add a spring refresh to my site (or in my case, a bit of a rebrand and overhaul)? Introducing:
I couldn’t decide on what to call this new site (I want to keep this newsletter a bit different) so in the spirit of being myself, I just went with my name (and an article on why I am shedding my old blog is coming on Friday for paid subscribers). My Edits will still be available through the new site here.
It will hopefully simplify everything and put all my content in one place. Meatier content and blog-like articles will come here directly though, so this is where the good stuff happens!

As you can see, I am a total cliche when it comes to spring: embarking on new projects (I’ve started painting my door an Eastery-y blue colour which, if I’m honest I am hating right now but I always feel that way after the first coat as it’s neither the new colour or the old colour - plus my daughter cried when she saw it which didn’t exactly help with my thought process); overpromising on content (I am already overwhelmed with my substack promise notes and ideas) and refusing to wear weather appropriate clothes. And on that note I just bought a t- shirt:
It’s the Uniqlo cropped t-shirt. Remember I mentioned last newsletter that a cropped tee is a useful item? This is from Clare Waight Keller’s Uniqlo: C range and it’s £14.90, I bought a medium and it looks great with relaxed trousers, jeans and maxi skirts. I usually wear high waisted bottoms so no risk of showing (much of) my midriff - it’s more for those, like me, who constantly tuck the front of a t shirt in. This cuts off at the perfect length (although I am still tucking in slightly to break up the flow of it). A few ideas on styling:
Jacket: Kitri. T shirt: Uniqlo. Jeans: M&S. Glasses: Specsavers. Earrings: Catch Rhys. Lip colour in ‘Unattached’: Fenty at Boots. Bag: Cos. Shoes: M&S
Necklace: Laura Lee Jewellery. T shirt: Uniqlo. Cardigan: H&M. Earrings: Sezane. Skirt: Cos. Socks: Tabio. Trench: And Other Stories. Bag: Ace & Prince. Shoes: Birkenstock.

And then lastly (thirdly?), if like me you still have a pile of prints to be framed, can I recommend Habitat frames for another spring tidy up job? For standard poster prints and A4 artwork they are the best quality on the High Street (I love the oak frames), made from wood and real glass (unlike Ikea and most High Street frames) and just make an ordinary picture look, well, less than ordinary.
